Peonies - Joy of June

Peonies – Joy of June

It’s June again, and with great joy I find once more the fresh-cut peonies at Trader Joe’s. The lush buds in white, pink or fuschia are here for a blink of the eye and then PUFF! gone again until next season.

Mantillija poppies and peonies are two of the most overripe, outlandish, over-the-top, Drama Queen, drop dead flowers. I love them. Soooooooo beautiful and their brief appearance, like apple blossoms, makes them even more precious to revel in their beauty. Thanks for sharing these gorgeous blooms!

I forget from year to year their musty fragrance. Kind of cloying, old-fashioned scent.
