Getting ready for Christmas at my house

Some might think that it’s pushing the season, but I like to decorate for Christmas over Thanksgiving. Then I’m “done.” All that is left is the enjoying. The evenings start so early now. Sunset into the Pacific is before dinner. Jesper and I love to light the candles, put on the Gregorian Chants and sip port wine in front of the fire.

This year I’m starting out with white orchids. There has been much agitation in the world, and I suppose my soul is crying out for purity – and peace. The grapes are meant to remind me daily of the abundance that blesses my life.  If you look carefully, you’ll spot a few angels hovering on my mantelpiece. Exist or not exist – it isn’t a question I’m asking this season. I’m relishing the simple joy they bring to my heart. And I hope yours. May this be a wonderful Christmas (or Hanukkah) season filled with love and good companionship for you all.

Early Christmas greetings from my house to yours!

I am lucky to be your neighbor and able to enjoy the beautiful Holiday spaces you create. As a 3 year veteran I can say they are always as different as they are beautiful, and you and Jesper are generous and frequent hosts. Thanks for making our holidays always a little nicer!

Looks fabulous. I’m an early bird, too, though I try not to do Christmas decorating until Dec 1. And Gregorian chants fit perfectly with the season.

A lot of my Thanksgiving effort is due to our daughter being in town. She loves putting the Santa hats on the dolphins and catching a few smiles from passers-by before she heads back to the Bay Area. She likes to rifle my boxes of decorations to see what theme she’ll use on her own tree. So, as all the decorations come down from the attic, I might as well just finish the job. My marketing person dubbed our place Winter Wonderland. I like that. That’s my theme this year.
